School Holiday Today: Authorities in various states of southern India have declared a holiday for schools and other educational institutes on Thursday (October 17) due to incessant rains. Parts of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh have been reeling under heavy rains for the past few days. Various parts of Odisha and Kerala are also expected to receive heavy downpour over the next few days. Several of the affected areas witnessed school, college closures on Wednesday and/or Tuesday as well.

Authorities in Andhra Pradesh's Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor, and Tirupati districts have asked schools, colleges and other educational institutes to remain closed till Thursday (October 17) in view of incessant rains, Jagran Josh reported on Wednesday. The IMD has predicted heavy to extreme rainfall in the aforementioned districts.

Chennai School Holiday: Schools In 4 Tamil Nadu Districts To Remain Closed

Schools in Tamil Nadu's Chennai will remain closed on Thursday in view of heavy rainfall. The state government has announced holiday for schools and colleges across the districts of Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpet, Jagran Josh said in its report.

Bangalore School Closed: Bengaluru Schools To Observe Holiday On October 17

Bengaluru has been lashed by heavy rains since Tuesday. In view of an alert for an impending cyclone, authorities have ordered schools in the city to remain closed on Thursday (October 17), according to Jagran Josh. Students are advised to contact school authorities for confirmation on school holidays in Bengaluru on October 17.
