Congress senior leader Shashi Tharoor has expressed concern over the health and whereabouts of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. Tharoor stated that while the supporters have raised concerns regarding Khan's health, the authorities have not provided updates, leading to speculations. The Congress leader further stated that the government did not even provide any proof of Khan's living to his son, defining it as "concerning". He further stated that while it was an internal matter of Pakistan, the cricket fans are entitled to know about the World Cup-winning captain.
"I think it's not appropriate for us to comment on the internal affairs of another country. But it is certainly a matter of some concern that there is so much silence on this matter,” Tharoor was quoted as saying by ANI. “There are various people claiming that the worst has happened. But the Government of Pakistan and the authorities have not said anything. That silence is bad,” the Congress leader added.

Apart from this, Tharoor also stated that Khan's son should have been provided the proof to debunk the speculations. “You saw the message from his son, saying that he wants proof of life that his father is alive. Apparently, nobody has provided any proof yet that his father is alive. That is a matter of some concern, and I speak only as an ordinary citizen of India; it is not a foreign policy matter for us,” the Congress leader added.

The supporters of Imran Khan have claimed that the former prime minister was not allowed to meet the party workers. Apart from this, several reports have also claimed that Khan was being tortured in the prison, leading to a massive political row. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder has been serving a 14-year sentence in a corruption case since 2023.
