Karnataka Leadership Change Row: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar's cryptic posts emphasising on 'Word' and 'World' amid power tussle, drew a sharp jibe from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said shots have been fired again in Congress, asserting one thing is clear that their entire words and worlds are revolving around the CM chair.

"Shots fired again in Karnataka Congress. DKS says “Word power is world power”. Now Siddaramaiah responds “Word is not power unless it betters the world” One thing is clear: Their entire words and worlds are revolving around the CM chair. Tukde Tukde Congress. Congress busy fighting. People of Karnataka suffering," he posted on x.

A Word Is Not Power Unless It Betters The World For The People: Siddaramaiah

Hours before of Poonawalla's X post, Siddaramaiah shared a cryptic post, saying a word is not power unless it betters the world for the people.

"A Word is not power unless it betters the World for the people. Proud to declare that the Shakti scheme has delivered over 600 crore free trips to the women of our state. From the very first month of forming the government, we transformed our guarantees into action; not in words, but on the ground," his X post read.

"The mandate given by the people of Karnataka is not a moment, but a responsibility that lasts five full years. The Congress party, including me, is walking the talk for our people with compassion, consistency, and courage. Our Word to Karnataka is not a slogan; it means the World to us," he mentioned in his note on X.

"In my first term (2013–18), 157 of 165 promises were fulfilled with over 95% delivery. In this term, 243+ promises out of 593 are already completed, and every remaining promise will be fulfilled with commitment, credibility, and care," the chief minister added.

Word Power Is World Power: Shivakumar

Earlier, Shivakumar expressed his mood in the morning sharing a post, pressing importance of 'word'. He wrote word power is wold power.

"WORD POWER IS WORLD POWER. The biggest force in the world was to keep one's word. Be it a judge, president or anyone else including myself, everyone has to walk the talk. Word power is world power," he wrote on his photo.

However, till yesterday, he maintained silence, avoiding a direct reference to the leadership change in the state. On Wednesday, he asserted that the party is united and focused on the 2028 assembly and 2029 Lok Sabha elections.

Shivakumar, who is also the state Congress chief, was reluctant to disclose the message he is said to have received from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, amid the CM change speculations, and gave indications that he may visit Delhi to meet the party high command in the days ahead.Denying any confusion or existence of factions, he said, "... no one should demand anything. There are no groups in the party, there is only one group, that is the Congress. Our group has 140 MLAs."

Accusing the opposition BJP of "trying to create confusion", he said the ruling party should not give them the opportunity. "They are making comments unnecessarily. All 140 of us are together. No one can shake us. I don't want anyone's offer....I'm a Congressman by birth," said Karnataka Deputy CM.

Kharge To Meet Warring Leaders With Rahul Gandhi

Meanwhile, as the pressure builds up over the Congress high command to put an end to the tussle, party chief Mallikarjun Kharge said he will have a meeting with select leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and the Siddaramaiah-Shivakumar duo to resolve the matter.

Siddaramaiah's son Yathindra, meanwhile, said there was no reason for his father to quit mid-way through the five year term as he was delivering good administration without any charges against him, and also enjoyed the support of party MLAs. Party senior and Home minister G Parameshwara, who is also in the CM race, expressed confidence the party high command will resolve the matter in a week. He, however, assured to serve the people and also live up to Congress ideology if he is entrusted with the top post, considering his experience and skill.
