SIR Deadline Update: The deadline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list is approaching, with December 11 set as the final day to submit the SIR enumeration form. However, millions of voters have not yet filled out the form, raising questions about the consequences of missing the deadline.
The Election Commission of India has clarified that not submitting the form will not lead to fines or legal penalties. However, voters are encouraged to complete the form before the deadline, but missing it does not affect the current registration, Jagran.com reported.
The Election Commission of India has announced a revised Schedule, extending the relevant dates by one week for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls in 12 States/UTs, with 01.01.2026 as the qualifying date. pic.twitter.com/sJB7nHH7A6

How To Add Your Name If It Is Missing From Draft Voter List?
If your name is missing from the draft voter list, which will be released on Tuesday, December 16, you can submit your details during the claims and objections period, which continues until January 15, 2026. You may also add your name using Form 6 available on the Election Commission of India’s website.
Voters applying for the SIR after December 9 must attend a hearing with the Electoral Registration Officer to confirm eligibility. Failure to do so may result in their name being removed from the list.
No Penalty For Voters Missing SIR Form Submission
The Election Commission has said that the voters whose names were in the previous voter list but have not submitted the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) form, or could not be contacted by a Booth Level Officer (BLO), will not face any fines or legal penalties if their names do not appear on the SIR-compatible list.
However, the Electoral Registration Officer may initiate an investigation and issue a notice seeking clarification, the report added.
