From the tribal heartland of Chhattisgarh’s Abujhmad region, where resources are limited, Khushbu Nag has emerged as a powerful name in Indian fitness and bodybuilding. At the IHFF Sheru Classic 2026 International Fitness and Bodybuilding Competition, held between June 11 and 14 at Bharat Mandapam, Delhi, she delivered a standout performance among athletes from India and abroad.
Competing in the Women’s Physique International category, she not only secured a gold medal but also went on to win the Overall Champion title, marking a major milestone in her career.
Her achievement has brought national attention to Abujhmad, a region traditionally known for its dense forests, tribal heritage, and cultural richness. Now, it is also being recognised for producing athletes capable of competing on global platforms. Khushbu’s success stands as a rare example of excellence emerging from an area with minimal access to advanced gyms, professional infrastructure, or high-level training facilities.
Despite these limitations, her journey reflects consistent discipline, hard work, and strong self-belief. Her rise is being seen as an inspiration for young athletes who often assume that success in fitness requires metropolitan facilities or expensive resources.
Khushbu has credited her coach and family for standing by her through every stage. She is expected to return to Raipur from Delhi on June 15.
From personal loss to athletic strength
Belonging to the Gond tribal community, Khushbu Nag grew up in Bramhbeda village in a modest carpenter family. In 2019, she faced a deeply difficult phase after losing her mother to cancer, which led to emotional distress.
To cope with this personal tragedy, she turned to the gym. What began as a way to heal gradually became a life-changing path. Hours of training helped her rebuild her focus and strength.
Under the guidance of coach Dilip Yadav, she entered competitive bodybuilding and steadily progressed from local events to national and then international stages. Today, she also works as a gym coach in Narayanpur while continuing her own rigorous training.

2022: Gold medal in the 57 kg category at the Indian Bodybuilding Federation national championship in Dallirajhara.
2023: Gold medal and “Strong Woman” title at the national event in Raigarh
2024: Gold medal and “Strong Woman” title at the national competition in Mumbai
