Suchana Seth Goa Murder: The estranged husband of Suchana Seth, the Mindful AI labs CEO who murdered her four-year-son, returned to India on Tuesday evening after being informed about the tragic incident. Venkat Raman who was working in Indonesia returned to Chitradurga in Karnataka where he gave his consent to the local authorities to conduct a post-mortem of his son's body, police said.
The child was smothered by her mother Suchana Seth, the CEO of an Artificial Intelligence start-up, in a Candolim service apartment in North Goa, somewhere between January 6 to January 8.
Here are the top updates in the Suchana Seth Case:
1. The preliminary examination conducted at Hiriyur Hospital revealed that the four-year-old son of Bengaluru start-up founder Suchana Seth was suffocated with a pillow, resulting in his death. The body has been brought in for postmortem.
2. Earlier, Police revealed that Suchana was going through divorce proceedings with her husband. She also tried to kill herself by slitting her wrists after killing her child. Police have confirmed that the blood stains that were found on a towel in the service apartment were due to the slashing of her wrist.
3. After the Goa police apprehended the tech CEO on her way to Bengaluru, she was produced in a local court in Mapusa. The court has granted a six-day remand of the woman to Goa Police.
4. "The motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained. We have got six days of police custody of the accused and we will thoroughly interrogate her," a Goa police official mentioned.
5. Seth has been booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 302 (murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence), and also under the Goa Children's Act, said the official.
6. The murder came to light after the apartment's housekeeping staff went to clean the room in which the accused stayed, and found blood stains on the towel. The service apartment management informed the Calangute police.
7. "Raman, who was in Jakarta (Indonesia), was contacted by the police and told about the incident. After that, he returned to India. On his arrival in Chitradurga in the evening, he gave his consent for a post-mortem on his child's body," a senior Karnataka police officer said.
