Jailed Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi on Thursday claimed responsibility for the murder of gangster Sukhdool Singh alias Sukha Duneke, who was on the National Investigation Agency's (NIA) most wanted list. He was killed in Canada's Winnipeg during an inter-gang shooting amid escalating tensions between India and Canada over Khalistani Extremists. Singh was a part of the Khalistani movement operating out of Canada.
The claim that the murder was executed by the Bishnoi gang was made through a Facebook post, written in Punjabi. The Bishnoi gang claimed that Singh had killed their associates, gangster Gurlal Brar and Vicky Middukhera and also termed him a "drug addict".
The message read that Sukhdool Sigh was "punished for his sins" and also warned that the gang would take revenge on all its enemies whether it was in India or any other country.
The post also alleged that the Canada-based gangster, who had at least 18 cases against him including those for murder, attempt to murder and robbery, considered himself the in-charge of the Davinder Bambiha gang.
A native of Duneke Kalan village in Punjab's Moga district, the Singh fled to Canada in December 2017, official sources said. He was also associated with Canada-based gangster-turned-terrorist Arsh Dalla, gangster Lucky Patial, Malaysia-based gangster Jackpal Singh alias Lali and other criminals.

Bishnoi is currently lodged in Ahmedabad on drug smuggling charges that are being investigated by the NIA. He is also one of the prime accused in the murder case of Sidhu Moosewala.
Sukha Duneke's killing comes as diplomatic tensions between India and Canada heightened after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged that his government had "credible evidence" linking Indian government agents to the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil in June this year.
