Lok Sabha Election 2024: The battle for the Baramati parliamentary seat has ignited a feud within the NCP, as Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar urges voters to support his wife, Sunetra Pawar, while his uncle Sharad Pawar defends his daughter, Supriya Sule, calling Sunetra an "outsider". This clash between the two Pawar factions underscores deeper issues of gender bias in society.

Despite being part of the same political family, Ajit Pawar's call for voters to rally behind another Pawar candidate has stirred controversy, prompting Sharad Pawar to label Sunetra as an "outsider." Earlier today, when asked about Sharad Pawar's remark calling her 'outsider', an NCP candidate from Baramati got emotional.

NCP vs NCP In Baramati Seat

For the first time, the Baramati parliamentary seat is to witness two members of the Pawar family locking horns. While Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has fielded his wife, Sunetra Pawar, the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) has given candidature to three-time sitting Baramati MP Supriya Sule. Sule, who is the only child of Sharad Pawar, is pitted against Sunetra Pawar. Ajit Pawar's wife Sunetra Pawar is the ruling Mahayuti candidate, while Sule is the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) nominee.

Last week, during the political campaigning in Baramati, Ajit Pawar told voters that they elected his uncle Sharad Pawar’s daughter three times, but now they should elect his daughter-in-law.

"You have been with the Pawars for so long, but now there must be some thought about what to do (in Lok Sabha polls) as there are two candidates from the same family. You must be wondering whom to support, and whom to vote for. It is simple, as you have been with the Pawars for so long, just go and vote for (another) Pawar (referring to Sunetra Pawar)," he said as quoted by news agency PTI.
