The Supreme Court on Monday posted Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea for June 26 against the Delhi High Court order staying the bail granted to him by the trial court in connection with a money laundering case linked to the alleged liquor policy scam. "It is not proper to interfere when the High Court has reserved its judgement. We will keep this petition for hearing for the day after tomorrow," the top court said, as quoted by NDTV.
A vacation bench of Justices Manoj Misra and SVN Bhatti said that it would like to wait for the pronouncement of the high court order on the issue, as reported by news agency PTI. Appearing for Kejriwal, senior Advocate Abhishek Singhvi, sought vacating of the interim stay on the bail order.
Meanwhile, appearing for the ED, ASG SV Raju, opposed Kejriwal’s plea and said the high court is about to pronounce the verdict on its stay application.
Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday granted bail to Kejriwal on a Rs 1 lakh bond, which was to be furnished before the duty judge the next day. The stay order on Kejriwal’s bail came after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sought a stay on the order and asked the court to give 48 hours to sign the bail bond so that the order could be challenged in the higher court.
Halting Kejriwal’s release from the Tihar jail, the Delhi High Court directed that the bail order should not be enforced until the matter is heard in full. The court later reserved its matter and said that it would announce it in the upcoming two to three days.
In its petition, the ED had said that the June 20 order granting regular bail to Kejriwal was passed without granting adequate opportunity of hearing to the probe agency. It also stated that the order was passed without considering that in light of the facts of the present case where all courts up to Supreme Court have given judicial imprimatur to the fact that the offence of money laundering has been committed and hence regular bail in light of the mandatory twin conditions under Section 45 of the PMLA could not have been granted.

Earlier on May 10, the Supreme Court granted Kejriwal a 21-day interim bail ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The AAP chief surrendered before the Tihar jail authorities on June 2. After Kejriwal was given bail, Aam Aadmi Party leaders called the decision a "milestone for the whole country" and a "historic verdict."
Arvind Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 in connection with a money laundering case involving alleged irregularities in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy 2021-22.
