Suraj Revanna Sexual Assault Row: The Karnataka Police on Sunday arrested Janata Dal (Secular) MLC Suraj Revanna, brother of sex crimes-accused former MP Prajwal Revanna, for allegedly sexually assaulting a male party worker. The police action against Suraj Revanna came after the victim, a party worker, filed a case against him at Holenarasipura police station in Hassan district on Sunday, alleging that he was sexually assaulted by him at his farmhouse on June 16. 

The complaint was filed by the JD(S) worker under sections 377 (related to an unnatural sexual act), 342, and 506 of IPC. The victim in his complaint alleged that Suraj Revanna had invited him to his farmhouse and forcefully kissed him and bit his lips, as reported by India Today.

Meanwhile, the case registered against Suraj Revanna has been transferred to the CID for further investigation with immediate effect, news agency ANI reported. 

The man alleged that Suraj sexually assaulted him and promised to help him grow politically in the district. The man further accused Suraj of threatening to kill him if he did not cooperate. "Suraj told me you’re alone in this farmhouse. You don’t know about me and our family. He threatened to kill me if I didn’t cooperate,” the man said in his complaint, as quoted by India Today. 

The complainant said that he informed Suraj Revanna's close aide, Shivu, about the incident and said that Suraj had ruined his life, however,  Shivu allegedly threatened him not to make the issue public and said that they would offer him 2 crore for it and a job.

What Suraj Revanna Said In His Complaint?

Earlier on Saturday, Suraj Revanna and his acquaintance Shivakumar filed a case stating that they were being blackmailed by two persons over a "false sexual assault allegation.” The man, who levied sexual assault allegations against Suraj was brought to Bengaluru on Saturday night after he refused to undergo certain medical tests in Hassan.

According to the Hindustan Times, the police also booked the complainant and his brother-in-law for allegedly attempting to extort Rs 5 crore from the politician.
