Tamil Nadu: A woman and her lover were arrested on Sunday for allegedly murdering her husband in Tamil Nadu's Trichy. The accused were identified as Vinodhini (26) and her lover, Bharathi (23).
Three months ago, the woman's husband came to know that she was renting a place with a man, Bharathi, and confronted her over this. The deceased reportedly moved out and asked his wife to cut ties with her lover. Seething over the argument, the accused decided to murder her husband.

On November 4, the woman gave her husband sleeping pills and then subsequently strangulated him to death with the help of Bharathi who then called three of his friends, Ruben Babu, Divakar, and Sarvaan to dispose the body. The accused reportedly planned to dispose the body near the Trichy-Madurai highway but failed to do so due to rain. The group later chopped the body and disposed off the parts in Cauvery and Kollidam rivers.
The incident came to light on November 5, when Prabhu's brother paid a visit to the deceased at his house and the accused woman told him that her husband had not returned home. Following this, the victim's brother lodged a complaint with Samayapuran police and during the investigation police learnt about Vinodhini's extramarital affair and their plan to kill Prabhu.
All the five accused were arrested by the police and further investigation is underway.
