Chennai Schools Closed Today: As IMD forecasts heavy rain for Tamil Nadu, District Collector Rashmi Siddharth Zagade has issued notification for a holiday in schools of Chennai. In view of the heavy rain forecast in Tamil Nadu, all schools will remain closed today, Tuesday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rain for isolated places over Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Villuppuram districts, Puducherry and Karaikal area today.
Tamil Nadu Weather Forecast: Mild to moderate rainfall, along with isolated thunderstorms and lightning, is expected to continue in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe until November 14.
Isolated heavy rainfall is forecasted in Tamil Nadu from November 11 to 15, in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema from November 12 to 14, and in Kerala from November 13 to 16. Additionally, coastal and South Interior Karnataka may experience heavy rains on November 14.
Additionally, a cyclonic circulation continues to persist over the southwest Bay of Bengal, extending up to 5.8 km above sea level and tilting towards the southeast. This is likely to develop into a low-pressure area that will move slowly westward towards the coasts of Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka over the next two days.
A trough from the southwest Bay of Bengal to the east-central Bay of Bengal is also influencing local weather patterns, with effects extending up to 1.5 km above sea level.
The IMD has issued heavy rainfall across southern states, including Tamil Nadu and Kerala, from November 12 to 15 due to a low-pressure area forming over the southwest Bay of Bengal. Coastal and South Interior Karnataka may also witness severe rains on November 14.
