Details About Tamil Nadu TVK Vijay Rally Stampede

Vijay, the actor-turned-politician and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party chief, was addressing a rally in Tamil Nadu’s Karur, attended by tens of thousands of supporters. Although police permission was granted for 10,000 people, the crowd swelled to nearly 30,000-50,000 during the rally. Vijay arrived at the venue six hours late, which further contributed to the unrest.

As Vijay started addressing the rally, tens of thousands of attendees pushed the crowd towards the stage, overpowering barricades and triggering a stampede. Several attendees, including children and women, fainted due to suffocation and less ventilation. It prompted Vijay to cut short his speech and throw water bottles to help those in distress.
