Chennai News: Residents in Chennai woke up to cloudy skies on Wednesday, with the sun rising at 5:41 AM. The weather is expected to remain overcast for the rest of the day, with a possibility of rain due to cyclonic conditions developing over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and nearby South Andaman Sea.
The temperature is likely to range between 29 and 36 degrees Celsius, and humidity levels are expected to be around 68 per cent. Winds are forecast to blow steadily from the southwest at a speed of 16 km/h. The cloudy weather may bring rainfall, leading to waterlogging and traffic delays in some areas.
Tamil Nadu Weather: IMD Issues Yellow Alert
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for several regions in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. These include Chennai, Ranipet, Villupuram, Puducherry, Tiruvallur, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tenkasi, Dindigul, Theni, Thoothukudi, Sivaganga, Pudukkottai, Tanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Ramanathapuram, Namakkal, Tirunelveli, Tiruppur, Kanniyakumari, Madurai, and Virudhunagar.
The alert comes in view of the cyclonic circulation, which is expected to influence rainfall in the region. Commuters are advised to be cautious, as rain may lead to slippery roads and congestion.
Chennai Weather Forecast
Looking ahead, the weather forecast shows mixed conditions over the next five days. Thursday is expected to remain mostly sunny, while Friday may see overcast skies. Thunderstorms are likely on Saturday and Tuesday. On Sunday, cloudy skies with a chance of thundershowers are predicted and Monday may bring scattered rain in parts of Karnataka.
