Tamil Nadu Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for several districts, including Chennai, warning of heavy rainfall as a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify and move northwards toward the Tamil Nadu coast. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely in the Delta districts, along with Cuddalore, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Chennai, and Tiruvallur from the 28th to the 30th.
Tamil Nadu Districts On Alert
The southern districts of Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Ramanathapuram have been placed on immediate alert for heavy rainfall. In the following days, the zone of intense rain is expected to gradually shift northward, covering Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, and Nagapattinam. The advisory culminates in an Orange Alert for November 29 for the northern coastal districts, including Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Villupuram, Cuddalore, and Mayiladuthurai, where very heavy rainfall is expected.
Chennai Weather Forecast
On November 27 and 28, the weather is expected to remain largely similar to November 26. On 26 November, the temperature stood around 31 / 25 Degree Celsius with a generally cloudy sky and light rain.
IMD has issued a yellow alert from November 28 to December 1, warning of rain and thunderstorms across the period. On 28 November, the temperature is expected to be around 29 / 24 Degree Celsius with partly cloudy skies. On 29 November, temperatures may dip to 28 / 24 Degree Celsius, and the forecast indicates a generally cloudy sky with the possibility of heavy to moderate rain or heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.
On 30 November, the weather remained similar at 28 / 24 Degree Celsius, with a generally cloudy sky and heavy rain predicted. By 1 December, temperatures may rise slightly to 29 / 25 Degree Celsius, with partly cloudy skies and the possibility of moderate rain, thunderstorms, or thunderstorms accompanied by lightning.
The depression that had formed in the South Andaman Sea has strengthened into a deep depression and is moving in a west-northwesterly direction. It is predicted to turn into a cyclone named 'Senyar' today. The storm is predicted to cross the coast between Chennai and Nagapattinam.
