Tamil Nadu Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning across the state. An orange alert has been issued for 12 districts, including Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, Erode, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Nilgiris, and Tirupattur. Over the next three hours, moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning is also likely at isolated locations in Tiruchirapalli, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Thanjavur, and Thiruvarur districts.

The weather office attributed the current wet spell to a low-pressure system off the Tamil Nadu coast in the southwest Bay of Bengal, combined with another system over southern India. The IMD has predicted fairly widespread rainfall across the state this week, with heavy showers expected in some districts until October 10.

On Oct 13, the temperature will be 34/26 Degree Celsius with no humidity, with thunderstorms accompanied by rain and lightning.

The southwest monsoon is yet to fully withdraw, and meteorologists predict a gradual drop in daytime temperatures by 2°C–3°C across parts of Tamil Nadu starting October 8. In Chennai, skies are expected to remain mostly cloudy, with isolated light showers in some areas. Temperatures are likely to range between a high of 34°C and a low of 26°C.
