Tamil Nadu Weather: Residents are experiencing a notable shift in the weather conditions as the recent spell of heavy rainfall has gradually decreased over the past few days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall across Tamil Nadu, signalling a reduction in the overall intensity of the recent wet spell.

This shift is accompanied by strengthening northerly winds, resulting in notably cooler conditions, especially during the early morning and late evening hours.

Tamil Nadu Weather

The intensity of rainfall has eased across Tamil Nadu, with only light showers reported in the last day. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the weather pattern will continue over the next week. According to the latest forecast, light to moderate rainfall is likely in several districts of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, over the next few days.

Several districts, including Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Sivaganga, Pudukkottai, Virudhunagar, Nellai, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, and Dindigul, are expected to witness light to moderate rainfall for the next few days.

“Due to a change in the speed of easterly winds, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at one or two places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal areas today and tomorrow (December 9),” the IMD said.

Additionally, light to moderate rain is also likely at isolated places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from December 10 to 13.

Chennai Weather

Chennai and its surrounding areas can expect partly cloudy skies with chances of light rain today, December 8. The Regional Meteorological Department has forecast light rain with the daytime temperatures hovering around 30 degrees Celsius and the night cooling down to a comfortable low of 24 degrees Celsius.

December 8: While light rainfall is predicted on Monday, the residents are set to experience cloudy skies and a gentle breeze.

December 9: The residents are not likely to witness rainfall; the maximum temperature is likely to surge by two to four degrees Celsius.

December 10: Light rainfall, along with a gentle breeze and cloudy skies, is expected on Wednesday. The maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 28 degrees Celsius.

The weather department has urged residents to stay vigilant, limit outdoor activities and follow official weather updates closely to avoid inconvenience.
