Tamil Nadu Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday stated that several districts of Tamil Nadu are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. The weather department stated that the coastal regions are expected to receive thunderstorms and strong surface winds along with rainfall. The continuous rainfall is likely to provide relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. However, the excessive rainfall is also expected to lead to issues like waterlogging and power cuts in multiple cities. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

Tamil Nadu Weather: Rain expected till September 10

- While providing details, the weather department stated that several districts, including Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Pudukkottai, Cuddalore, and Ariyalur, are likely to witness moderate to heavy rain along with strong surface winds on Sunday.

- Heavy rainfall is expected in Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, and Nagapattinam on Monday, leading to inconvenience to the residents of the lower regions. These districts usually receive heavy downpours in the monsoon season, leading to waterlogging.

- Residents of Nilgiris, Theni, Coimbatore, Dindigul, and Madurai, along with Sivaganga, Tiruchirappalli, Salem, and Kallakurichi, are set to receive heavy rainfall on September 9.

- The weather department stated that several districts, including Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Salem, Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai, Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, and Villupuram, are expected to witness heavy rain on September 10, adding that several regions of Puducherry are also likely to witness rain.

The weather department has advised the fishermen to limit the financial activities and maintain a distance from the water bodies to avoid inconveniences. It also suggested the farmers of the Cauvery delta region take care of their crops, as waterlogging is expected after excessive rainfall till September 10.
