The popular food and travel guide Taste Atlas recently published a number of year-end rankings. During the 2024–25 Taste Atlas Awards, it released a list of the "100 Best Food Regions in the World." Interestingly, Punjab had been placed among the top 10 in addition to making it to the list. Italy's Campania, Greece's Peloponnese, Italy's Emilia-Romagna, China's Sichuan, and Greece's Cyclades occupied the top three spots.

Punjab came in at number seven overall. According to Taste Atlas, 477,287 valid ratings for 15,478 dishes in its database served as the basis for the rankings. The list is arranged by the highest average scores that each region has received.

Must-Try Punjabi Cuisines

According to Taste Atlas, Amritsari kulcha, Tikka, Shahi paneer, Tandoori murgh, and Saag paneer are some of the Punjabi delicacies that visitors should not miss. Kesar da Dhaba (Amritsar), Bharawan Da Dhaba (Amritsar), Bade Bhai ka Brothers Dhaba (Amritsar), Haveli (Jalandhar), and Crystal Restaurant (Amritsar) are a few of the famous traditional eateries that the guide mentions.

Other Indian States On The List

Punjab isn't the only Indian culinary region to be listed among the top 100. Maharashtra came in at number 41. Popular state delicacies including misal pav, aamras, shrikhand, and pav bhaji were highlighted by Taste Atlas.

Chingri Malai curry, shorshe ilish, ras malai, and kathi roll were among the well-known dishes from West Bengal, which was ranked 54th in the world.

In terms of a single entry, "Southern India" came in at number 59. Hyderabadi biryani, madras curry, masala dosa, and other well-known dishes were among the many samples provided by Taste Atlas that demonstrated the diversity of this vast culinary region.

Taste Atlas' list of the 100 Best Cuisines in the World also garnered media attention. Despite being a finalist, Indian Cuisine failed to appear in the top ten. It was ranked as the world's 12th best cuisine.
