What Is Pawan Kalyan’s Evil Eye Remark

Last week, while inspecting seawater-damaged coconut plantations in the Konaseema region of Andhra Pradesh, Kalyan said that the people of Telangana, which was carved out of the state in 2014, also used to appreciate greenery and the beauty of Konaseema and ‘Drishti’ or ‘Evil Eye’ would have contributed to the destruction of the coconut plantation.

Telangana Minister Threatened Film Ban

“Chiranjeevi is a sober man and stays away from controversies. Pawan Kalyan, who entered politics recently and has now become deputy chief minister, must clarify whether he made such remarks unknowingly or deliberately to insult the people of Telangana. If he offers a public apology, his films might run for a day or two; otherwise, they won’t be allowed to release in Telangana,” Venkat Reddy told reporters.

Thousands of acres of coconut plantations in the Konaseema district have been destroyed as seawater continues to flood farmland. Farmers blame blocked and overflowing drains, along with heavy silt buildup, for worsening the crisis and allowing saline water to reach deep into once fertile fields.

The Jana Sena chief said, "Leaders from Telangana used to praise Konaseema's greenery, even saying that its prosperity was a factor in the state's bifurcation debate. Perhaps a lot of Dishti (evil eye) was cast on it, and just as a black stone breaks under a strong curse, Konaseema's coconut trees too seem to have been hit by a similar glare."

"Pawan Kalyan must apologise. When there is flooding in Telangana, we don't blame Andhra Pradesh. We think of it as nature's fury. As coalition partners of Kalyan and the Jana Sena party. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and the BJP need to react. He must understand that he is no longer just an actor. He must make responsible statements. He should not speak in a manner that creates animosity between the people of the two states," Telangan Transport Minister Poonam Prabhakar said.
