To ease the traffic bottleneck on NH-48 and MG Nagar and reduce the travel time between Delhi and Gurugram, a route from either Gyarah Murti or Talkatora Stadium is being considered, the Indian Express reported, sourcing officials. 

In a high-level meeting chaired by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Delhi CM, two projects were discussed. During the meeting, the National Highway Authority of India was asked to come up with plans to make Delhi’s congested routes free of traffic snarls.

The proposal to ease congestion on the route to Gurugram from Delhi, part of a broader initiative to ease congestion in Lutyens' Delhi and Central Delhi. Additionally, another project being considered involves constructing an elevated corridor or tunnel connecting the Delhi-Meerut Expressway to the proposed AIIMS-Mahipalpur corridor.

To Ease Pressure on Mehrauli Gurugram Road and Ring Road, the Delhi government had earlier proposed a 20 km elevated stretch from AIIMS to the Mahipalpur Bypass. It is also expected that the news link be extended to the Gurgaon-Faridabad road through a tunnel from Nelson Mandela road, the report added. 

As per officials, three major expressways - Delhi-Meerut, Delhi-Dehradun, and the DND-Sohna link of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway - will soon converge near Sarai Kale Khan, adding to Central Delhi’s traffic load.

On the Other hand, the transport ministry is working on an urban decongestion policy to support infrastructure upgradation, while CM Gupta has also urged Rs 1,500 crore from the Central Road Infrastructure Fund for city road improvements.
