Several states of India are experiencing heavy rainfall as monsoon has entered several parts, with a few other states on the verge of weather change. Heavy rains and landslides across Karnataka's coastal Dakshina Kannada district have claimed five lives,  news agency PTI reported, quoting officials on Friday.  

According to the report, a landslide struck a home at Montepadavu Kodi near Mangaluru on Thursday night, leaving five people trapped under the rubble. Later, a woman and her child were rescued and swiftly shifted to a hospital in critical condition, but the other child of the woman was found dead under the debris. 

Heavy rain triggered a landslide around 4 am, leaving the house collapsed, where six people were asleep.

Among the deceased were three-year-old Aryan and his two-year-old brother Aarush. Their grandmother, Prema Poojary, also died in the incident.

In another incident at Deralakatte in Mangaluru, a compound wall collapsed on a house on Friday morning, killing a six-year-old girl identified as Fatima Naeem.

A 27-year-old lineman succumbed to electrocution while attempting to repair a high-tension line in the coastal district on Thursday. The incident occurred in Amar Jalu, a village in Kuvettu, Belthangady taluk. 

Authorities have issued warnings for vulnerable zones in the region, as intermittent rains continue to batter the coastal belt.

Five Killed In Kerala

According to the news agency IANS, as many as five people lost their lives to heavy rain in Kerala in several rain-related incidents. On Friday, Kerala was lashed with heavy rainfall in all 14 districts. Four separate incidents claimed five lives in Kerala. Two youths drowned while fishing in Kottayam district. A fisherman lost his life after his boat capsized in rough seas off Thiruvananthapuram. An 85-year-old MGNREGA worker died in Kochi when a tree fell on her. A native of West Bengal reportedly drowned in Kochi, Deccan Herald reported

Red Alert In Assam For Heavy Rains

A red alert has been issued for Assam as the state grapples with severe flooding and heavy rainfall, affecting multiple districts. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the alert forecasts extremely heavy rainfall over the next two to three days, with Guwahati and several southern and western districts expected to bear the brunt.
