Train Ticket Hike: Passengers travelling from Patna to major cities across India will now have to pay more for long-distance train journeys, following a fare hike implemented by Indian Railways from July 1. The revised fares apply to all journeys covering distances beyond 500 kilometres.
Patna Train News: Fare Hike Based On Travel Class
As per the new pricing structure, sleeper and second-class fares have increased by 1 paisa per kilometre, while AC classes — including AC 3-tier, AC 2-tier and AC First Class — have seen a 2 paisa per kilometre hike.
Patna–Delhi Route Sees Noticeable Hike
For instance, a sleeper ticket on the Sampoorna Kranti Express from Patna to Delhi, which earlier cost Rs 510, will now cost Rs 520. The AC 3-tier ticket on Tejas Express or Rajdhani Express for the same route has risen from Rs 2425 and Rs 1350 to Rs 2445 and Rs 1370 respectively.
Mumbai-Bound Trains Also Costlier
Travellers heading to Mumbai via the Patliputra–Lokmanya Tilak Express will now pay Rs 787 for sleeper class (up from Rs 770) and Rs 2134 for AC 3-tier (up from Rs 2100). Similarly, the fare for Patna–Chennai on Sangramitra Express has gone up by Rs 21 in sleeper class (now Rs 911) and Rs 42 in AC 3-tier (now Rs 2442).

Train News: South India Routes Witness Similar Hike
A similar pattern follows for routes to Kanyakumari, Secunderabad and Ahmedabad. Passengers on the Dibrugarh–Kanyakumari Vivek Express will now pay Rs 897 (sleeper) and Rs 2353 (AC 3-tier), marking an increase of Rs 27 and Rs 53 respectively.
Train News: No Change in Short-Distance Fares
Notably, fares for journeys below 500 km remain unchanged. For example, the Patna–Kolkata Garib Rath Express continues to charge Rs 650 for AC 3-tier as before.
The revised fares are reflected on the IRCTC portal and the fare chart is applicable to all bookings made from July 1 onwards.
