Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay's residence in Neelankarai, Tamil Nadu, received a hoax bomb threat, news agency PTI reported. This comes days after a stampede at the party's rally killed 41 persons and injured over 60 on September 27 in Karur district.

The police have launched a hunt for the caller.

On October 7, actor-turned politician Vijay spoke to the families of the Karur stampede victims through a WhatsApp video call. The actor-turned politician expressed his condolences and assured support to the families.
Vijay's Video Message
Earlier, Vijay, in a video message, stated that he was completely shattered after the stampede. He further stated that he did not visit the affected site again to ensure that a similar situation was not repeated.
Vijay added that the state government framed his close friends and senior party members even though they did nothing wrong after the stampede. The TVK chief further suggested the Chief Minister MK Stalin take action against him if he sought "revenge".
