In a murder crime involving two states, two men with a murder history killed a 30-year-old engineer in one state and dumped his body in another state, as the murder was inspired by the Bollywood movie Drishyam.
A software engineer named Srinath, originally from Kuppam in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district, was brutally murdered after he repeatedly demanded repayment of a Rs 40 lakh loan he had given to his relative.
Srinath had been residing with his wife and young child in Bengaluru’s Anekal area in Karnataka. Police said he had handed over the large sum to his relative Prabhakar on the promise that the money would be doubled through an investment.
Over the past three months, when Srinath kept pressing for the return of his money, Prabhakar allegedly decided to kill him. Together with his close associate Jagadish, he planned and executed the murder.
After going missing from Bengaluru, Srinath’s body was later discovered buried inside a house in Chittoor district.
When Srinath did not return home for two days, his wife lodged a missing person complaint at Attibele Police Station in Bengaluru.
At first, Prabhakar acted innocent and even asked the police to check the call records. But a deeper investigation revealed that both men were serial killers. Prabhakar had previously murdered his wife’s friend over money, while Jagadish had killed his girlfriend in a separate case.
After repeated interrogation, both confessed and led the police to the buried body in Kuppam. The remains have been recovered, and the probe continues.
As per the police, Prabhakar called Srinath to Kuppam on the promise to return his money. Once Srinath reached Kuppam, he was hit on the head with a hammer and killed, police said. After that, Prabhakar and Jagadish dug a pit inside the house and buried the body.
