Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) chief Uddhav Thackeray accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of engaging in "power jihad" by destabilising political parties to maintain power. Speaking in Pune ahead of the assembly polls, Thackeray claimed that the BJP orchestrates splits within parties, including the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Responding to Union Minister Amit Shah's comment labeling him as the head of the "Aurangzeb Fan Club," Thackeray called Shah a “political heir” of Ahmad Shah Abdali, referencing the Afghan ruler who defeated the Marathas in the battle of Panipat.
Thackeray cited a letter from former RSS chief Balasaheb Deoras to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, which emphasised secularism and no hatred toward Muslims or non-Hindus. Thackeray questioned if this form of Hindutva was unacceptable to Shah and slammed the BJP for equating alignment with Muslims to being part of the "Aurangzeb Fan Club."

The Sena leader criticised the Eknath Shinde government's "Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin" scheme as an attempt to bribe voters with freebies. He also mentioned structural issues in the new parliament building, questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi's demand for accountability from the Congress for its 70-year governance.
Reacting to this, BJP leader and deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis criticised Thackeray, calling him "disappointed and frustrated" and said that his remarks indicated an unstable state of mind.
Maharashtra minister Girish Mahajan also commented, saying that Thackeray had lost his mental balance.
“I think Uddhav Thackeray has lost his mental balance. He had earlier made wrong comments on PM Modi, Maharashtra deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis. Today, he made wrong comments about the home minister of India Amit Shah...Elections are very far, I don’t know till then what kind of language he will use,” he said.
