Uttar Pradesh News:  The government of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday issued fresh directives to specify the rules regarding the bursting of firecrackers. Issued in the wake of the Supreme Court's order to contain the pollution in the Delhi-NCR area, these directives contain explicit information on timing and limitations on the sound level and duration of fireworks.

Timing of bursting the firecrackers:
Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) restricted the timing for bursting of crackers between 8 pm and 10 pm on Diwali night.

Limit on the sound levels:
Limiting the audio levels of the firecracker's bursting, the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB), communicated to all districts that the sound produced from firecrackers sold in the state should not exceed 125 decibels (AI) or 145 decibels (C). For comparison, road traffic at its peak makes a sound of 75 decibels.
