In another case of alleged dowry harassment, an influencer was found dead at her in-laws' house in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow. The victim, identified as Mansi, had married Sagar Rajput in 2024.
Since marriage, Mansi’s husband and in-laws were putting pressure on her for a car, as per an NDTV report. Mansi’s family has claimed that Mansi's death is a case of murder and the in-laws are trying to cover it up as a suicide. Sagar has been taken into police custody.
As per the FIR accessed by NDTV, Mansi’s family had given a total dowry of Rs 7 lakh, however, the in-laws did not consider it enough. As per the family, the Rajputs had been demanding a car and were constantly targeting Mansi both mentally and physically over dowry.
Mansi had also conveyed about the harassment to her family following which they had come to mediate the matter in Lucknow on multiple occasions.
Murder Staged As Suicide: Mansi's Family
Mansi’s family was told about their daughter’s alleged suicide on Saturday, however, the family has claimed that it was a murder staged as suicide.
Following a complaint by Mansi’s family, a case has been filed against the husband and five family members. Those accused in the case include - Sagar Rajput, father-in-law Rajesh, brother-in-law Anu, sisters-in-law Barkha and Chandni, and paternal aunt-in-law Asha, as per the report.
Mansi And Sagar Were Active On Social Media
As per the FIR, Mansi hailed from Kanpur and married Sagar in 2024. Both of them created content on social media with Sagar having a massive 8 lakh following on Instagram.
Twisha Sharma Death Case
The Lucknow case comes days after 33-year-old Twisha Sharma was found dead on May 12 at her marital home in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal. The woman's family accused her husband, Samarth Singh, and mother-in-law, Giribala, of murder.
