In a unique turn of events, a farmer’s wife from Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, gained notoriety after being shocked by seeing nearly Rs 10 crore credit on her bank account, but she refused to withdraw from her account until after they resolved the issue.

Sita, wife of Parasbhan Baheliya, lives in Devganj village of Bichwan, earning a living from agriculture. During the Navratri, she checked her balance at a Village ATM, which demonstrated that nearly Rs 10 crore had been credited to her bank account.  After checking this amount at an alternative bank ATM, she made a video of the ATM’s receipt indicating there was nearly Rs 10 crore credit and sent that video of the ATM out via messaging, and that video has now become viral locally.

Even though there was nearly Rs 10 crore in Sita’s account, she never attempted to withdraw any money, nor would she allow her family to touch the money until the status of the funds had been clarified.  The local and neighbouring community have praised Sita’s honesty and integrity.

They went with their family to the bank to report the issue; however, they found the bank was closed due to it being a public holiday.

The manager of Bank of India's Karimganj branch, Rishikant Pandey, subsequently expressed that he believed it was a transactional mistake or tinged by a technical problem, and promised to investigate thoroughly after the branch opened.

The incident has also gained widespread attention on social media with many praising Sita for exhibiting great integrity during a time when her family could have attempted to take advantage of the money that was deposited into her account.
