Weather conditions in Uttar Pradesh have changed with the formation of a low-pressure area over southwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas. According to the latest update from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rain and thunderstorms are expected over parts of eastern and western Uttar Pradesh in the next 24 hours.
With the change in weather, the meteorological department states that western Uttar Pradesh has registered heavy to very heavy rainfall within the last 24 hours. With Bijnor registering a maximum amount of 12cm of rainfall, Saharanpur and Muzaffarnagar also registered heavy showers.
Meteorological Department has alerted that heavy rain with thunderstorm showers are predicted for various places in western Uttar Pradesh over September 6-7.
Various districts of east UP could register thunderstorms, lightning and rain from September 6-8. A few regions could receive heavy rain from September 6-9.
Advisory For Farmers:
- According to IMD, Farmers should ensure adequate drainage facilities in the fields
- Farmers should avoid irrigation, application of fertiliser, and pesticides during the waterlogging period in the fields.
- Farmers have also been advised to provide support to small plants, vegetables and horticultural crops.

Heavy Rain Triggers Flood-Like Situation
As relentless rainfall triggered landslides across parts of Uttar Pradesh, at least eight people died after flash floods inundated major rivers including the Ganga, Yamuna, Mandakini, Tons, Belan, Saryu, Ghaghra, and Sharda.
Districts affected by floods include: Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Ballia, Barabanki, Badaun, Chandauli, Farrukhabad, Ghazipur, Gorakhpur, Hardoi, Kasganj, Lakhimpur Kheri, Mirzapur, Moradabad, Pilibhit, Prayagraj, Raebareli, Sant Kabir Nagar, Shahjahanpur, Sitapur, Sonbhadra, Unnao and Varanasi, it said in the evening.
