Almora Bus Accident News:  As many as 36 people were killed after a bus heading towards Ranikhet fell into a 100-meter-deep gorge near Kupai Village in Uttarakhand’s Almora district. Over 40 passengers were on the bus when the tragic incident took place, Jagran.com reported.

Police and administration have intensified rescue efforts in the area. Ambulances have been dispatched from Ramnagar and Almora to the incident site.

The driver reportedly lost control of the bus as it approached Kupai Village, causing it to plunge into a deep gorge.

The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and police personnel have arrived at the scene, and relief and rescue operations are being carried out swiftly. Initial reports indicate that five passengers have died, but accurate figures will be available once the rescue operations are completed.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed anguish over the incident. CM Dhami said requisite instructions have been conveyed to the authorities to speed up the rescue operation.  

"Very sad news has been received about the casualties of passengers in the unfortunate bus accident that took place in Marchula of Almora district. The district administration has been instructed to carry out relief and rescue operations swiftly. The local administration and SDRF teams at the accident site are working rapidly to evacuate the injured and take them to the nearest health center for treatment. Instructions have also been given to airlift seriously injured passengers if required," CM Dhami posted on X.

DM Alok Kumar Pandey said ambulances have been sent to the spot and the death toll will be clear after the rescue operation is completed.
