Uttarakhand Bus Accident: In a tragic incident, as many as eight people died while several others sustained injuries after a bus carrying 35 passengers fell into a gorge near Gangnani on the Gangotri National Highway in Uttarkhand’s Uttarkashi district on Sunday. Following the incident, the injured were taken to the hospital and are undergoing treatment.
An official informed that the rescue operation for one traveller who is still struck inside the bus is underway. SDRF Commandant Manikant Mishra said that eight passengers onboard the bus lost their lives in the Gangnani bus accident while 27 passengers have been injured. He also said that out of the injured, 10 passengers received severe injuries, as reported by news agency ANI.

"A passenger bus going towards Gangotri, Uttarkashi met with an accident near Gangnani on Gangotri National Highway. Around 32-33 people were said to be in the vehicle. 27 injured people have been rescued and sent to the hospital. DM and SP Uttarkashi are present on the spot,” the police said.
Constable Kuldeep, a member of the rescue team told news agency ANI that the bus UK 07 PA 8585, carrying passengers from Gujarat, has fallen into a depth of around 50 metres.
Following the accident, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his condolences over the death of passengers and wished a speedy recovery to those who sustained injuries. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the chief minister wrote, "May God grant peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved family members to bear this loss. I wish a speedy recovery to all the injured."

The Uttarakhand CM also said that he has issued instructions to the district administration to carry out relief and rescue operations and ensure proper arrangements for the treatment of those who sustained injuries. Dhami also asked Premchand Aggarwal, the minister in charge of Uttarkashi district, to oversee the situation.
