Uttarakhand’s Chamoli Monsoon
1. Chamoli has been one of the worst-hit districts in Uttarakhand this monsoon, with multiple cloudbursts and flash floods causing significant damage.
2. Earlier this month, an official stated that a Centre-led inter-ministerial team will visit Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pauri, Bageshwar, and Nainital to assess damage from heavy rains, cloudbursts, and landslides.
3. In August, land subsidence affected parts of Nandanagar, causing cracks in house walls and forcing several residents to relocate to safer areas.
