Uttarakhand Weather Update: The southwest Monsoon has created havoc in Uttarakhand as heavy rains battered several parts of the mountainous state on Saturday. Heavy downpours have left over 100 roads, including major highways blocked, whereas, the many rivers are flowing over the danger mark. Residents in Rudraprayag districts were asked to move away from their riverside houses as Alaknanda water reached the protective walls of the buildings.
In the wake of a 48-hour Red Alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department for the disaster-prone state, the Uttarakhand government has suspended the Char Dham Yatra for one day on July 7. Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey issued a notice in this regard on Saturday. This came as the Badrinath and Kedarnath Highways remained impacted by the landslides at multiple points.
A Bridge Collapsed In Ram Nagar
As the rains lashed parts of the state on Saturday, a river bridge collapsed in Nainital's Ramanagar on Saturday. A video emerged on social media, showing the bridge being swept away by the strong river currents. The Ramnagar bridge collapse took place near Mohan on the Ranikhet road in Nainital district.

Holiday In Rudraprayag
The heavy rains in Rudraprayag district halted the day to day life. District Magistrate Saurabh Gaharwar ordered the closure of schools in the wake of the heavy downpour in the district. All Anganwadis and schools up to class 12 remained closed on Saturday.
Seven Killed Due To Heavy Rains
A total of seven people have lost their lives in the Uttarakhand rain-related accidents. On Saturday, two bikers from Hyderabad were killed after being hit by a boulder at Chatwapipal near Karnprayag in Chamoli. 36-year-old Nirmal Shahi and 50-year-old Satyanarayan were returning from Badrinath towards Rishikesh when they were struck by a large boulder rolling down from the mountain above.

According to IMD, extremely heavy rain will likely lash isolated places in Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar & Udham Singh Nagar districts. Meanwhile, heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at many places in all districts of the Kumaun region and Chamoli and Pauri districts of the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand.
