Uttarakhand SIR: Ahead of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Uttarakhand, the Election Commission has stated that verification of women enrolled after 2003 will be done based on their parents' names. The poll body stated that their verification will be carried out in their native village or city by contacting their parents. It further stated that the key objective behind this initiative is to maintain the accuracy and transparency of voter records in Uttarakhand.

The revision process in Uttarakhand will begin on May 29, when the poll body will provide training to the officials. The BLOs will conduct the door-to-door drive from June 8, verifying details provided by the voters. However, there has been confusion regarding the verification of women voters whose names do not appear in this list.

The verification of the women voters whose names were added to the electoral roll following marriage will be done by visiting their native places. The chief electoral officer has clarified that the verification of records for women who became voters after 2003 will be done based on original family details.

The poll body stated that the verification will be done primarily by matching the woman's name, birth details, and father's name. It asserted that the process will help prevent concerns such as the same voter having their name registered at multiple locations.

The election commission has also clarified that this process is not linked to any woman's marital rights or current address. It further stated that for women whose place of residence has changed following marriage, their current addresses and other documents will also be verified.
