Uttarakhand To Delhi Bus: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami on Sunday instructed the transport officials to arrange sufficient buses from the state to Delhi. The meeting was held amid problems the commuters were facing because of the restriction on BS-4 diesel buses from entering the national capital.
In a new action plan, Dhami instructed the transport department to reschedule the 12 super deluxe BS-6 Volvo buses currently operating for Delhi and instructed them to run them three times (one and a half trips) within 24 hours to accommodate more passengers. The chief minister also instructed the transport department to operate 130 BS-6 ordinary buses and 185 contracted CNG buses purchased recently on the Delhi route.
Earlier on Saturday, CM Dhami sought a detailed report from the Additional Secretary Narendra Kumar Joshi regarding the shortage of buses and other issues that people were facing. Joshi stated that 504 buses were operating regularly to Delhi prior to the ban, but BS-4 194 buses were restricted from entering the national capital after the ban, citing poor air quality. He further informed that the civic body was left with only 12 Volvo BS-6 diesels and 185 contracted CNG ordinary buses for the route to Delhi.
However, he also confirmed that newly bought 130 BS-6 diesel buses are also ready to operate on the Delhi route. Dhami has asked the transport department to operate all these buses from various cities of the state on only the Delhi route. Apart from this, the chief minister has also directed the completion of the process of purchasing 100 new BS-6 buses and putting 100 new CNG buses on contract soon.
Apart from this, the transport corporation is planning to operate almost half of the buses going to Delhi via the Meerut Expressway. The Volvo buses are already going to the national capital via Noida Sector 62. The transport department has assured that these buses can operate three times a day as the travel time on this route is a maximum of 5 hours.
