Uttarakhand: With the onset of summer, trains heading to Uttarakhand are witnessing a massive surge in passenger traffic, with several major routes fully packed and seat availability becoming increasingly scarce.

Due to rising temperatures in the plains, the start of the tourism season, and the ongoing wedding season, large numbers of travelers are heading to hill destinations, significantly increasing pressure on rail services to Kathgodam.

Kathgodam Railway Station has been witnessing heavy crowds as tourists from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Kolkata, Mumbai, and other major cities make their way to the hills for relief from the heat, as per Jagran.com. As a result, waiting lists on several key trains have crossed 100 and are expected to remain high until at least May 10.

Several trains from Delhi to Kathgodam, including the fully air-conditioned Shatabdi Express, are seeing waiting lists between 100 and 120 until May 5.

Similarly, seats on the Bagh Express and Ranikhet Express are also in extremely high demand, with many dates showing no booking availability or long waiting lists. Passengers unable to secure confirmed reservations are often being forced to travel in general compartments.

The heavy rush is not only affecting tourists but also people traveling home for urgent work or family commitments.
