Uttarakhand Weather: Heavy Rain, Hailstorm To Hit In Dehradun, Nainital, Other Districts; Orange Alert Issued | Check IMD Forecast

Uttarakhand Weather: As North India continues to reel under an intense heatwave, residents of Uttarakhand are likely to get some relief from the scorching temperatures that have persisted for several days.

The Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert for rain, hailstorms and strong winds over the next 24 hours. The weather department has predicted rainfall, hailstorms and gusty winds in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Almora, Pauri Garhwal, Tehri Garhwal, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Dehradun on May 29.

The hill state has been battling a prolonged spell of extreme heat, disrupting normal life and keeping people indoors during the daytime. Rising temperatures have also worsened the forest fire situation across Uttarakhand, with several forest areas witnessing increased fire incidents.

Uttarakhand weather: Rain and hailstorm alert for several districts

The Meteorological Centre has predicted hailstorms, light rainfall, lightning and strong winds at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on May 29.

The department has also forecast heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds and hailstorms in parts of Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Tehri Garhwal, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh.

In addition, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Tehri Garhwal, Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts.

For May 30, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for all 13 districts of Uttarakhand, including Dehradun, Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Tehri Garhwal, Pauri Garhwal, Rudraprayag, Nainital, Almora, Pithoragarh, Udham Singh Nagar, Bageshwar and Champawat.

The Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre has also issued a yellow alert for hailstorms, lightning and strong winds for May 31 and June 1 across all districts except Udham Singh Nagar.
