Uttarakhand Weather: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red and orange alerts for several parts of Uttarakhand, forecasting extremely heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and other severe weather conditions for Monday.
Heavy rainfall continues to lash several districts of Uttarakhand. A red alert remains in place for these areas until September 2. Despite the end of August, the monsoon shows no signs of slowing down. On Sunday, widespread rainfall was recorded throughout most parts of the state.
The IMD has now extended its warning, predicting moderate to very heavy rain across Uttarakhand through September 7, 2025.
Uttarakhand Weather: Red Alert Issued In Multiple Districts
A red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for Dehradun, Tehri Garhwal, Haridwar, Pauri Garhwal, Nainital, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar, and Uttarkashi. The IMD also forecasts extremely heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning in several other districts.
Authorities have issued warnings for potential landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying regions.

Uttarakhand Weather: Heavy Rainfall On Sunday In Dehradun
On Sunday, Dehradun and surrounding areas witnessed heavy rain starting in the afternoon, which continued until the evening. Most parts of the city recorded over 50 mm of rainfall. Additionally, overnight showers on Saturday had already compounded the situation.
In Champawat district, Banbasa recorded 160 mm of rain within 24 hours. Rishikesh also received 118 mm, which is 900 per cent above the normal for this period. Most rivers in the state are in spate, and multiple roads remain blocked due to landslides.
Uttarakhand Weather: Landslides, Flood Warnings Across State
According to the Meteorological Centre, extremely heavy rainfall is expected today in parts of Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, and Haridwar. The IMD has issued a red alert for these areas.
An orange alert has been issued for the remaining districts, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms with lightning, and intense spells of rain.
Uttarakhand Weather: Schools Closed Due To Heavy Rains
Due to the continuing bad weather and alerts from the IMD, schools have been closed in many districts of the state. An orange alert remains in place for most regions on Tuesday as well.
