Uttarakhand Weather Today: Dense fog in the plains and frost in the hilly areas are causing a continuous drop in temperatures, and Uttarakhand is facing severe cold conditions. The state has been witnessing light snowfall in the hilly region for the last 2 days, leading to intensified chill and cold winds in the lower areas.

A decline has been recorded in maximum temperatures across most parts of the state. Daily life is being affected by the biting cold in the mornings and evenings.

Uttarakhand Weather Today: Alert In Nainital, Dehradun Others

According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather in the state will remain dry over the next few days, but there are no signs of relief from the cold for now. A yellow alert for fog has been issued in Dehradun, Haridwar, and Udham Singh Nagar.

Uttarakhand Weather Forecast: IMD Issues Yellow Alert Till Jan 8

- According to the latest weather forecast bulletin released by the IMD at 9:30 am on Sunday, several districts in the state will remain under a yellow alert until January 8.

- Dense fog is likely to occur at isolated places in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts, as well as in the plains of Nainital, Champawat, Pauri, and Dehradun districts of Uttarakhand on Monday, January 5.

- Ground frost is expected at isolated places in the hilly areas of the state, while cold day conditions are also likely at isolated spots in Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar districts, and the plains of Nainital, Champawat, Pauri, and Dehradun districts.

- Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar districts and the plains of Nainital, Champawat, Pauri and Dehradun have been placed under a yellow alert on Tuesday, January 6 and will remain under alert until January 8.

Nainital Anganwadi Shut Till January 9 For Cold Waves

Due to the persistent dense fog and cold wave conditions in Nainital, all Anganwadi centres in the district have been declared closed until January 9, 2026, in the interest of their health and safety.

District Magistrate and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Nainital, Lalit Mohan Rayal, has issued an order in this regard.

The District Magistrate has directed the District Programme Officer, Nainital, and all Anganwadi workers to ensure that the information reaches the parents of all children registered at the Anganwadi centres in a timely manner and to strictly comply with the order.
