UP Crime News: A 5-year-old girl was declared dead in the hospital after she was abducted, gang-raped, and thrown from a terrace in UP’s Bulandshahr. The accused duo, in their late 20s, abducted the minor from outside her house, gang raped her, and threw her from the terrace to make the crime ‘look like an accident’.
Both the accused, Veeru and Raju Kashyap, were labourers at a factory, and were partying together at the time of the crime, police said. They were arrested later that night after they were shot in the legs during a brief encounter with cops.
They were admitted to a hospital for treatment of their injuries. During the interrogation, the accused are reported to have confessed to their involvement in the crime. The accused revealed that ‘one of them suggested that several young girls live in their area and they could ‘pick any one of them for fun’. They stepped outside, saw the child, and abducted her,’ SSP (Bulandshahr) Dinesh Kumar Singh was quoted as saying by the Times of India.
The autopsy report revealed ‘sexual assault and death due to strangulation along with multiple injuries all over the child’s body’.
How Police Solved The Case
The accused tried to mislead the police by throwing the girl from the terrace. But the father of the girl’s friend had seen the victim with the accused.
Her mother later found her daughter’s slippers in the rented room of the two accused. As soon as she confronted them, they fled the site.
“Three police teams were formed and the two men — hiding in a small under-construction colony— were surrounded. They sustained bullet injuries to their legs in the brief encounter and were arrested, and sent to jail. We’ll ensure a speedy trial in this case,” said the SSP.
The police registered a case under Sections 70(2) and 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 5(m) and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
