Uttarakhand Weather Update: Residents of Uttarakhand are enjoying pleasing weather with light rain across the state; however, the weather is likely to be challenging, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms and snowfall in the coming days. As per the weather department, there is also a possibility of hail accompanied by thunder and strong winds at isolated places.
Uttarakhand Weather Today: Orange Alert In Rudraprayag, Chamoli And Others
According to the weather inputs provided by the meteorological department, light to moderate rainfall is expected at many places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Almora, and Champawat, and at some places in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar. As per a report by Local 18, quoting Bikram Singh, Director of Meteorological Centre, Dehradun, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, and Bageshwar, for which an orange alert has been issued.
Red Alert Issued On May 7,8
A red alert has been declared for heavy rain, hailstorm, and snowfall in Uttarkashi district on Wednesday and Thursday, as per the latest weather bulletin from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, and Bageshwar are also likely to experience heavy rain and snowfall during this period.

Weather Impact On Char Dham Yatra
The Weather in Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri is likely to be challenging as the IMD has issued a red alert in all three districts of Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Uttarkashi, housing Char Dham Shrines.
Badrinath Weather: Located in Chamoli district, the Char Dham shrine is expected to witness heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning from May 6 to May 8.
Kedarnath: Kedarnath, situated at an altitude of 3,586 meters in the Rudraprayag district, is expected to face heavy rains and thunderstorms, possibly with intense rainfall and lightning on May 6. On May 7, heavy snowfall is anticipated, along with continued heavy rainfall. On May 8, the weather will worsen, with high winds, thunderstorms, and more heavy rain.
Gangotri and Yamunotri: located in Uttarkashi district, will experience lighter weather disturbances. The IMD has predicted snowfall in Uttarkashi on Wednesday and Thursday.
Weather Advisory For Char Dham Yatra Pilgrims
Given the expected weather conditions, especially the heavy rains and storms in Kedarnath and Badrinath, devotees are advised to carefully consider their travel plans. Authorities have directed people to avoid non-essential travel and follow safety guidelines.
