Uttarakhand Weather Update: The State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) in Uttarakhand has issued a high-alert landslide warning for four districts, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, and Chamoli, based on forecasts from the Geological Survey of India (GSI) and the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The alert issued on July 6 warns of potential landslides on July 7 and 8 across several subdivisions, including Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Ukhimath, Ghansali, Narendra Nagar, Dhanaulti, Dunda, and Chinyalisaur. The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in these areas, significantly heightening the risk of slope failures and road blockages.

In response, the SEOC has instructed all district magistrates and disaster management authorities to enforce strict precautionary measures. These include maintaining high alert at all administrative levels, regulating vehicular movement, and ensuring swift disaster response. Additionally, all nodal officers under the Incident Response System (IRS) have been directed to stay on high alert.

Authorities have been instructed to promptly clear blocked roads, including highways and rural routes, while local officials must remain stationed in their areas. Police stations are to be equipped with disaster response tools and communication systems, and all officers must carry essential gear like raincoats, helmets, and emergency supplies. Government staff are also required to keep their mobile phones active during this period.

Uttarakhand District-Level Weather Forecast 

On July 7, 2025, heavy to very heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Tehri, and Bageshwar districts of Uttarakhand. Other districts in the state may also experience intense to very intense rainfall at isolated locations.

On July 8, 2025, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Nainital, Champawat, and Bageshwar districts of Uttarakhand. The remaining districts may also experience isolated spells of intense rain and thunderstorm activity.

On July 9, 2025, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected at isolated places in Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh, and Bageshwar districts of Uttarakhand. Other districts may also experience isolated spells of intense rainfall with lightning.

On July 10, 2025, isolated heavy to very intense rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely in Nainital and Bageshwar districts of Uttarakhand. Other districts may also witness thunderstorms with isolated spells of intense rainfall.

Precautionary measures include arranging food and medical aid for stranded individuals, restricting tourist movement in high Himalayan regions, and suspending travel during heavy rainfall. Schools have been advised to exercise special caution, and warning messages are to be widely broadcast through media channels. Sensitive routes must be marked with signs and equipped with emergency machinery, with all disaster-related updates reported to the state control room without delay.
