Uttarakhand Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued an alert for heavy rain in Bageshwar, Champawat, Chamoli, Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar, Rudraprayag, Sonprayag and other districts. The weather department has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of Uttarakhand, accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms. Residents are expected to witness no relief from heavy rain as intense monsoon activity is likely to continue till September 2.
This weather warning comes after cloudbursts were reported in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts on Friday, in which eight people died and several people were feared trapped, Jagran.com reported.
Uttarakhand Weather Forecast: THESE Districts To Receive Heavy Rains
According to the latest forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in several districts of Uttarakhand for the next 24 hours. An orange alert has been issued for Dehradun, Uttarkashi and Bageshwar, while the IMD sounded a yellow alert for heavy rain in Rudraprayag, Tehri, Chamoli, Pithorgarh and Pauri.

While providing details, the weather department stated that there is no possibility of relief from heavy rain till August 2, Tuesday.
Uttarakhand Rains: Alaknanda River To Cross Danger Mark
Torrential rain has wreaked havoc in Uttarakhand, causing the Alaknanda River water levels to rise rapidly. According to the data released by the irrigation department at 8 AM on Friday, the Alaknanda River water level has reached 535.80 metres, a few metres below the danger mark.
According to the officials, if rainfall activity continues with the same intensity, the river would breach its danger mark.
In view of the heavy rain, the authorities announced to keep all government, non-government, and Anganwadi centres closed today in several parts of Uttarakhand. Authorities have urged residents to stay alert and limit outdoor activities to avoid inconvenience. Additionally, the administration has instructed the people living near the riverbank to stay cautious and take necessary precautions.
