Uttarakhand Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for several districts of Uttarakhand, including Dehradun, Nainital, Tehri and Champawat. An orange alert has been issued for some hilly districts of Nainital and Dehradun from June 22 to June 26. Due to heavy rainfall, waterlogging is expected in several districts.

Uttarakhand Weather: Rain Alert For Several Districts

The IMD has forecast an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Dehradun and Nainital districts of Uttarakhand. Apart from these districts, a yellow alert has been issued for some parts of Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat, Almora and Bageshwar. Gusty winds with a speed of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour are expected to blow in these areas. The IMD has predicted the possibility of heavy rainfall till June 26.

Disruptions Due To Heavy Rainfall

Heavy rainfall has caused waterlogging and traffic disruptions in several parts of the state. The Chamoli Police told ANI that roads are blocked near Bhanerpani, Pipalkoti, on the Badrinath National Highway due to rocks falling from the hill. Traffic police has been deployed and conditions are continouosy monitored.

Precautions For Heavy Rainfall

Following the alert for heavy rainfall in several districts, the State Emergency Operation Center (SOEC) under USDMA has sent a letter to the DMs of the respective districts and asked them to be cautious of the weather conditions. The officer of Disaster Management and the departmental nodal officer are on alert.

The authorities have made arrangements for roads sensitive to landslides in advance. The traffic police are deployed in these areas and traffic will be controlled efficiently while maintaining security.
