Uttarkashi Cloudburst: Following a massive cloudburst in Uttarkashi on Tuesday, 8 to 10 Indian Army soldiers have gone missing from a camp located in the lower Harsil area. The Army confirmed this and stated that search operations are underway. Despite their own personnel being unaccounted for, Army teams are continuing with relief and rescue efforts in the flood-hit region.
The cloudburst struck in the catchment area of the Kheer Ganga river, triggering flash floods that swept through Dharali village. Located near Harsil, Dharali was among the worst-hit areas, where several houses, homestays and roads were damaged or washed away.
Visuals from the scene showed torrents of muddy water rushing through the village, replacing its usual green scenery with destruction. Videos and photos captured the sudden transformation of Dharali, with half of its structures reportedly swept off.

The disaster has so far claimed four lives. Officials said nearly 50 people, including the missing soldiers, are still unaccounted for. Rescue teams are working across the area to locate survivors and provide aid.
Residents were seen running to higher ground and calling out for their family members. In one video, a man’s voice is heard saying, “Everything is finished,” as people scrambled to find safety. Dharali, a key stop for pilgrims and tourists heading towards Gangotri, has suffered major infrastructural damage.
