Indian Railways is all set to introduce the much-awaited Vande Bharat Sleeper trains by year 2025-26, promising a new level of comfort and convenience for long-distance travel. These trains are designed with top-notch features and aim to offer a much more comfortable, safe, and enjoyable experience for passengers. These sleeper trains aim to transform overnight rail journeys, offering passengers an experience that rivals air travel.

Recently, BEML, the company making these trains, delivered the first Vande Bharat Sleeper trainset to the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. This is an important step forward, and U Subba Rao, General Manager of ICF, confirmed the news.

U Subba Rao, General Manager of ICF Chennai, confirmed the development in an exclusive conversation with ETNOW, stating that the newly delivered trainset will undergo rigorous testing. "The train will undergo oscillation trials and other necessary tests over the next two months, starting from November 15. Once the trials are completed, it will be ready for commercial service," Rao said.

Although Indian Railways hasn't yet announced the exact routes for these new sleeper trains. It’s expected that the first few services will connect major cities like New Delhi and Pune, or possibly New Delhi and Srinagar.

Who's Making the Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains ?

The Vande Bharat Sleeper trains are being built by three companies: BEML, Kinet Railway Solutions Ltd, and Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd in collaboration with BHEL. Together, they plan to make a total of 210 sleeper trainsets that will roll out in the coming years, aiming to improve long-distance travel for millions of passengers.

What Makes Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains Special?

The Vande Bharat Sleeper trains aren’t just about looking good—they’re packed with features designed to make travel safer and more comfortable. These trains are designed to meet the growing demand for safer, faster, and to ease long-distance travel. Built using high-strength Austenitic stainless steel, these trains are equipped with advanced safety features, including crash buffers and specially designed couplers to protect passengers in case of an emergency.

Each 16-car trainset will have a capacity to carry up to 823 passengers, offering a range of travel classes including First-Class AC, 2-Tier AC, and 3-Tier AC. These various configurations will ensure that passengers can choose a service that suits their budget and preferences.
