Chhattisgarh Vande Bharat: Five arrested for allegedly throwing stones at the Vande Bharat Express during its trial run in Chhattisgarh's Mahasamund District. The incident occurred on Friday night as the train was returning from Visakhapatnam to Durg, ahead of its scheduled inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.
According to Praveen Singh Dhakad, inspector of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Mahasamund, the stones were thrown at the train while it was passing through Bagbahra railway station around 9 pm. Although no injuries were reported, the multi-layered windows of three coaches sustained damage.

The train had departed from Durg, passing through Raipur and reached Mahasamund before setting off for its further journey at 7:10 AM. Following the incident, a team of RPF personnel, led by an assistant sub-inspector, alerted security forces, who promptly responded to the scene.
The accused have been identified as Shiv Kumar Baghel, Devendra Kumar, Jeetu Pandey, Lekhraj Sonwani and Arjun Yadav, all residents of Bagbahra. They are facing charges under the Railways Act of 1989 for endangering the safety of passengers, which can lead to a punishment of up to five years in prison. Reportedly, one of the accused, Shiv Kumar Baghel, has a sister-in-law who is a Congress corporator in Bagbahra.

In addition to the Durg to Visakhapatnam route, Prime Minister Modi is also set to inaugurate several other Vande Bharat services on Monday, including the first Vande Metro from Bhuj to Ahmedabad and a 20-coach Vande Bharat train from Varanasi to Delhi. Other routes for new trains include Tatanagar to Patna, Nagpur to Secunderabad, Kolhapur to Pune, Agra Cantt to Banaras, and Pune to Hubballi.
