Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw posted some pictures of the sleeper version of semi-high speed Vande Bharat trains, which will be the first of its kind with sleeping facilities. The train, which is expected to be ready by next February, will have improved suspension, lighting and comfort for long-distance journeys with a top speed of 160 kmph.

The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, which is producing the Vande Bharat and its variants, is working on a 16-coach initial design. According to reports, the sleeper version of Vande Bharat trains will have 16 coaches, including 11 three-tier, four two-tier and one first-class coach. The train will have 857 berths, of which 823 will be for passengers and 34 for staff. The train will also have a mini pantry and three toilets in each coach.

The train will offer wider births and brighter interiors than the current sleeper coaches. It will also have a dedicated charging port for each passenger and upgraded toilets. The train will run at a speed of 160 km per hour, similar to the chair-car version of Vande Bharat trains. The train will provide better and enhanced features than the usual sleeper trains, such as Rajdhani and Tejas.
