Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata Expressway Status Update: The work on the first phase of Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata Greenfield Expressway is underway at a rapid pace. There has been an agreement to connect four villages of Chandauli with this project for which a service road will be built. Orders have been issued to begin a survey. 90 km of the six-lane road is to be built in three phases. In this, 27 km part (first package) is the responsibility of the Varanasi unit of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), while 63 km work is to be done by the Sasaram unit, jagran.com reported.

In the first package, 23 km of road is to be built in Chandauli while about 5 km of road is to be built in Kaimur. This work has started from Revasa Chandauli. This package is approved till Khaiti Kaimur. In Chandauli, four villages Bahera, Khurhuja, Chanhata and Sikandarpur, located around two rivers Chandraprabha and Garai, have been demanding the construction of rural service lanes for a long time.

They want their village to be directly connected to the expressway. On Monday, in a meeting led by Rajya Sabha member Sadhana Singh, District Magistrate Chandauli and NHAI officials agreed to resolve this deadlock. Orders were given to explore the possibility of building a service lane to connect these villages. A large survey will be conducted, and the proposal will be sent to the headquarters accordingly. The length and cost of the service road will be known only after the survey. After the consent of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, steps will be taken to build the service road.
